Warminster, PA, April 2005—Tescor has recently commissioned a 5-ton Psychrometric Test Room to test the performance of floor-standing evaporator split air conditioning systems, heat pumps and package systems for a major manufacturer of air conditioning equipment in Blackville, South Carolina.

The Psychrometric Room is designed as side-by-side Indoor and Outdoor chambers with temperature, humidity and air flow independently controlled. Each chamber is fully independent and thermally controlled. The walls, floors, and ceilings are manufactured from foamed-in-place, 4” thick, urethane insulated panels with 22 gage aluminum skin for the inner and outer surfaces. They are joined by Camlock fasteners that facilitate field erection.

Complete conditioning of the chamber air is performed within plenums located in the rear section of the chamber. Circulation is maintained by centrifugal-type blowers discharging into an air distributing duct section. Cooling capacity is provided by a direct expansion coil while air heating is provided by multi-stage nichrome wire electrical heating elements positioned downstream of the cooling coil.
